Hello everyone, i just fitted my astra g with 215/45/17 Hankook Z222 on a 17x7.5 ET 40.
my wheels scrubbing the rear fender.
How can i solve this problem without changing my new tyres ?

If yours was fitted (assuming it was) with 195/60/15 as standard then going to a 215/45/17 would be the reason as the tyre is now +10.4% wider in width and 1.7% wider diameter. Check here to see the difference.

I had 215 40 17 before but yeah the standard was 15.
Theres no good tyres with the size 40 so i had to switch to 45 to fit my new rs3 tyres.

But is there anything i can do to stop the scrubbing without changing the tyres?
Thanks from advanced

Maybe rolling (i.e. stretching it out further) the wheel arch might help. Carl (evocarlos on here (I would tag him but it's not working at present)) would be able to help with that one as he's done so on his car. Other than that I can't think of a way to stop it as the tyres are so far removed from your standard ones. I'm running 225/45/17's on my Siggy with no issues but they are a programable option for my car.

loads of good tyres @ 215/40/17, more than 215/45/17
also its quite a small offset. arch rolling may be your best option if you dont want to change tyres.
your speedo will be under reading with the larger tyres on though

In comparison to your original size tyres then 215/40/17 would be .5 of MPH under at 30 and 1MPH at 60.
Check here.
The only difference between a 40 and a 45 profile is that the 45 is 5% bigger.

215/45/17 is far more common than 215/40/17 and you can get some really tasty rubber, e.g Michelin Cups, Conti sport contact 5's etc. at reasonable prices.

If the scrubbing is minor on the rear bumper you could unbolt the rear beam and move it as forward as possible. There is nearly 10mm of play in the fixing to allow the beam to be aligned with the chassis..
