speedo is pin 27 on the plug blue with a red stripe
it feeds many items before getting to the x2 (bulk head socket)
you would need to check continuity between the speed plug pin and the wire in the x2 its pin 62 in the x2
astra g speedo.JPG

the main wire you need to check is from the speedo to the abs pump thats where the signal originates from as its generated from the wheel sensors feeding the abs pump ecu

this is engine bay side
ins =instrument (the one your after)
ecc= elec climate control
etc etc....
once passed the x2 (blukhead plug) it feeds the ecu and the abs pump pin 25 in the abs ecu plug

That's perfect. Saves me checking every wire now lol.
Thanks for that mate.
I pulled the main plug off earlier and there was one pin with a bit of green on one pin but it's not the speedo wire. I've cleaned it so I'll have another look tomorrow.

Well that was a mission...
As you all know I've had a problem with my speedo for a long time and I've always thought it was a dash loom difference.
Well I changed the dash loom back to the original one that came with the van and all hell broke loose lol..
The coolant light came on and fans wouldn't work
The eml has always been on and on my goes off when I pull the screen washers and the alarm would not stop going off even when it was running.
So.
I put the new loom back in and all the faults were still there which was concerning.
Turns out the alarm isn't happy at all when the control box in the footwear isn't level and after abit of messing about I finally got that sorted and a new Gm key coded in.

Now the eml light was on and after checking both dash looms there was 3 extra wires in the new loom that didn't exist in the old one and 1 wire that was present in both looms but a different colour.
Whilst the van was running and plugged into opcom I decided to cut each wire and see what happened and if any faults appeared. Now I cut the 3 extra wires and nothing whatsoever ever changed no faults nothing.
I cut the 4th wire which is a different colour in the old loom and presto the eml goes off but no faults and nothing that I've found so far has stopped working. Happy days :)
I still want to try to work out what these wires are actually for but first I went onto the speedo issue.

Well after spending ages checking every wire related to speed signals and abs, it appears that the signal is getting to the abs computer and the abs computer to the instrument panel but.. the overall speed signal from the abs computer isn't working at all so I plugged the original abs computer in which I changed ages ago due to the tc and esp not working and first time the speedo works lol.

So long story short everything now works as it should but I have the same issue as I had ages ago now and that's the tc light is on and I have 3 fault codes.

C0241 requested engine torque malfunction

C0196 yaw rate sensor no signal

C0186 lateral acceleration sensor no signal.

Now 2 and 3 are there due to no yaw sensor which I'm on the hunt for but the first code I have no idea about and can't seem to find much info on it.
Has anyone had this before?

Oh and the coolant light was on because somehow a 40 amp fuse was blown In the engine bay and a 7.5 amp on the fuse box

Sounds like your getting there slowly mate. I can cross reference my wiring without if you want as i've just had loads removed and there isn't that many that go up to the clocks once all the crap is took out

That's much appreciated mate but I think I've sorted it. :)
Turns out as I have a 2003 coupe engine and looms etc, the dash loom I've put in is a 2001 which has 4 wires different. 3 make no difference at all but there's a red with black trace that sends an earth to the immobiliser when it shouldn't. I've cut that and the eml is gone and no faults.
Regards to the speedo.
The problem I had was the donor car had tc and esp so it's almost impossible to find a matching abs unit. So I've put the original abs unit back on fitted a yaw rate sensor and I'm all the lights have gone out.
I'm about to plug opcom in to see if all the faults are not present but I'm hoping that's that.

Well I'm driving it now so that's a start. When I drive it a code comes up with the tc light
Requested engine torque malfunction.
Everything else is fine now apart from that and I can't seem to find alot about it.
Not sure if it's the abs computer at fault but finding one that works with the rest seems impossible.

Right for now I've unplugged the yaw sensor and left the tc light on lol I keep getting this speed reduction error and with the yaw sensor plugged in when I first drive it every start up it won't let me drive as the tc stops it. Apparently it's common for a pin on the abs module to get bent or not sit properly and cause this but I'm happy with driving it with no tc and esp tbh so I'll look into it over winter when I do other jobs. It's looking like I'm getting an engine and box with 35k a 4 branch manifold and downpipe with sports cat another lightened flywheel and clutch and various other parts for a good price so over winter I'll try and fit it all when work slows down.

The gearbox has a 4.17 final drive. Am i right in saying this is for acceleration and will be worse on the motorway?

yes the 4.17:1 will give good acceleration but you will loose top end speed.
you may also notice its harder to get the power down?
i struggle with a 3.54:1 in the corsa and its got an ATB dif.
will be quite high in the revs to sit at 70mph on motorways :(
