Hi new here from Coventry

hi all new here and to the z22 engine I have just bought about 2 weeks ago a vectra b Sri 150 on a 51 plate and I have a few things to sort out before its where I want it but I will get there. And then I can start the performance mods lol. Firstly can any tell me or has anyone got and video's of these engines on idle as mine seems to be alittle lumpy. it's had a full service including plugs and a new cts sensor but it seems to tick over at between 750rpm and 800 rpm is that normal and secondly where is the best place to talk to or who if anyone on here is best to talk to about performance tunning???

Hi, and welcome to the site.

The idle speed is not adjustable and is controlled by the ECU when the engine is at operating temperature, with the CTS controlling the fuelling initially. An idle speed of between 750-800 rpm is just fine (this will increase slightly when air conditioning is running).
Worth having a look at the throttle valve (remove the air intake pipe from the air cleaner and throttle housing) to see if it's dirty and clean with carb cleaner if so.
Which spark plugs were fitted? - GM tri-electrode are recommended for non modified engines - part # 9199038
A K&N replacement air filter (33-2771) will help as well.

Cheap tuning mods are de restrict the air box and add a k&n panel filter, if it has a pre cat smash that out, a decat or a 200 cell sports cat makes a difference.

clean the throttle body and blank off the egr valve, that should help with the tickover

as already said, remove pre cat, better exhaust, k&n panel filter.
then balancer delete, lightend flywheel, head work. they will all set you up for future mods.

Welcome. I have same car. Had 9 years so guess I'm happy with it. Keeping mine original though. It's a good site with lots of info as you can see.
